Acne Myth #1: Acne is caused by eating certain foods

This one has been around a long time yet is supported by exactly no scientific proof. Although certain individuals may seem to experience outbreaks when they eat certain foods, there are no universal laws that apply to everyone. Eating pizza, chocolate, nuts, and greasy foods will not increase your acne.

Acne Myth #2: Acne is related to dirt or having dirty skin

Although having clean skin has other benefits, dirt does not cause acne. Acne is formed under the surface of the skin and is due to build-ups of sebum and dead skin cells. It’s not dirt that clogs your follicles.

Acne Myth #3: Washing your face all the time will clear up acne

This kind of relates to myth #3. Having clean skin is not the answer to preventing acne. Overdoing it as far as washing your face can actually make matters worse.

Many people view acne as a disease that can be permanently cured. Unfortunately, this isn’t the case. Acne can be controlled and prevented through proper skin care, but it cannot be cured.

Myths about tan are very popular, supposedly it even helps to make the skin less oily. In fact, it is not the type of skin that changes, but its moisture.

That is, exposure to sunlight can dry the skin, and not fight against acne.

Acne can occur at any age, but as people grow up, they learn to mask them or adhere to a certain, suitable way to deal with acne.

Until recently, it was believed that acne-the result of an oily skin type. But such rashes can appear on the dry and normal skin. Acne has an internal, not external cause: digestive disorders, intestinal problems, hormonal changes.

No, no, and no! There are a bunch of things in toothpaste that can dry a pimple out, but the extras that make toothpaste good for your teeth and gums can cause terrible irritation on the skin and sometimes even be the cause of breakouts and darkening around the corners of the mouth.

Acne Myth # 11: Chocolate makes acne worse

It’s good news for all you chocoholics: eating chocolate does not cause pimples. There are no studies linking this sweet treat to the development of acne. There is no evidence that cocoa beans, from which chocolate is made, cause pimples. And while some point to the sugar that also makes up a portion of all chocolate treats, even that evidence is weak.

That means that eating an occasional chocolate bar, or two or three, will not cause acne. Cutting chocolate out of your diet won’t clear up a case of acne, either. Learn more…
